Dr. Donna Burrowes is a seasoned Child and Adolescent Licensed Clinical Psychologist who completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the Developmental Medicine Center at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical Services and she served nine years in the United States Air Force. She has expertise in treating emotional, behavioral, and social challenges that arise during child and adolescent development, including the transition to college and young adulthood. Dr. Burrowes specializes in child and teen anxiety as well as depression, OCD, specific phobias, PTSD, emotional/behavioral dysregulation, and struggles with friendships and social skills.
As a mother and clinician, she offers empathic listening combined with her certification in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and advanced training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Exposure and response prevention (ERP). Her approach to treatment includes using psychological assessment to identify the unique ways that each client’s mind works, their personality traits, and how they process and regulate feelings to best design a personalized treatment plan for the best results. She is passionate about collaborating with parents to find gentle direct strategies to effectively guide children and help families connect in a deeper and more joyous way.
Real Bio: Dr. Donna is a Florida native. She has been married for 20 years and she is the mom of two boys, ages 14 and 9. In her free time, Dr. Donna enjoys going to the beach, boating, fishing, and watching her sons play baseball.
